Reflexology, a great stress reliever!
I love how I feel when I have reflexology done. A few years back on my journey for good health, I met
Vivienne Bailey
who is a practitioner of this art.

This ancient healing technique has been traced back 5000 years ago to Egypt, Japan, China and India. Dr. William H.Fitzgerald, of Boston City Hospital, wrote a book in 1917 about his findings of vertical lines that run through the body from head to toe. He showed that working with a reflex in the line would stimulate a specific organ.
A young therapist, Eunice Ingham, read this and became obsessed with the theory. In the 1930s she thought if the results were so good with the hands, what kind of results would she get with the 7000 nerve endings from the most sensitive part of the body, the feet. Ingham’s nephew, Dwight Byers continues her legacy in St Petersburg, Florida with her
Original Ingham Method of Reflexology
, the most widely used method today.
It is a safe, non-invasive effective way of promoting a sense of well-being for people of all ages.
After an initial consultation, the practitioner uses her/his hands in a slow walking movement of the thumbs and forefingers with a pressure technique of the reflex points found on the feet, hands and ears that correspond to all tissues, organs, glands and systems of the body.
The feet are preferred because they reveal the body’s subtle imbalances and they're the most abused by walking an average of 65,000 miles in a lifetime (3 times around the earth).
This pressure technique encourages your body to release stress, increase blood flow/circulation, strengthen the immune system and balancing the energy flow of your body, mind and spirit. The physiological and psychological changes that take place in the body stimulate your body’s own internal healing potential to restore balance and harmony as energy blocks are released in a gentle way.
It has been suggested that 75% of all illnesses are stress related.
This technique is becoming increasing popular as a complementary therapy. Your body is treated as a whole and focuses on the root causes rather than the symptoms alone. One third of cancer patients use this as a form of therapy.
This holistic approach can help with the following:
With my high levels of stress, it's important for me to cope better physically, mentally, and emotionally. Reflexology promotes health and helps in healing all areas of my life.
