Pet Nutrition is just as important to your four-legged friends

My Westie was a picky eater for years and had numerous health concerns. I worried about her pet nutrition because of her difficult eating habits. She never passed up a meal when I went to the raw diet and her symptoms disappeared. The raw diet is convenient and reasonable in cost. I am not spending money on veterinarian bills and medications which were not helping anyway! 
Dogs are carnivores, which means, they eat raw meat with predigested vegitation from the herbivore they have captured and consumed. We have been marketed to buy convenient packaged and cooked food that is loaded (more like over-loaded) with ingredients like food fillers, carbohydrates and grains that dogs and cats are not meant to eat. Pet food on the shelves are preserved with chemicals that are labeled as preservatives and are harmful and contain very little in pet nutrition. The heating process in the production of commercial pet foods kills the natural enzymes that is needed to digest the food and destroys nutrients. Our pets have a very different digestive system than ours. The process of digesting the food is a lot shorter so they do not have time to build up harmful bacteria that could cause problems. More reasons that raw foods are better!
You want to gradually take away some of the food they were eating and replace it with some of the raw diet. It is wise to slowly introduce the nutritional food the first few weeks. Like the recommendation that people see there doctor for a wellness check-up, pets should see the veterinarian for an animal wellness check. Blood work is a good way to monitor your pet's health. Keep in mind that all vets are not familiar with the raw diet. I go to holistic veterinarians for information and support since they are educated more to pet nutrition.
